The Portacapture X8 gives content creators, field recordists and on-the-go musicians an invaluable tool in their arsenal. With an easy-to-use interface, large-format microphones, high-quality preamps and the ability to record and/or stream up to eight tracks (six inputs and two mix) via USB, it's ready to capture whatever sound you need, wherever you happen to be.

Innovative and powerful, yet simple, the Launcher icon system provides easy configuration for specific application settings. The Launcher system and 3.5" color touch panel yield smooth navigation to select the best audio settings for the occasion. By taking advantage of these presets, you will have more time to focus on recording—without struggling with complicated settings.

The Portacapture X8 provides exceptionally wide dynamic range, utilizing its premium dual AD converters and 32-bit float point recording technology. The result is content with uncompromised audio quality, even on low-level recordings. You can edit the audio and increase level later without deteriorating the S/N (signal-to-noise ratio). The "internal normalize" function automatically aligns the levels of a two-mix file after recording. Combining these features, there's no need to spend valuable time tweaking audio levels.

Utilizing plug-and-go driverless functionality, the Portacapture X8 can be used as a compact mixer with built-in microphones for livestreaming via OBS or similar platforms. You can also record directly to DAW and editing software. For XLR/TRS inputs, TASCAM's in-house-developed HDDA (High Definition Discrete Architecture) mic preamps provide high-quality audio. Onboard USB-C bus power provides phantom power to each external mic at once. For video or audio conferencing, use the Portacapture X8 as your USB mics and even record the audio simultaneously

The Portacapture X8 comes with two 14.6 mm diameter built-in microphones, the largest in TASCAM's lineup. Employing a detachable mechanism, both L and R mics can be flexibly attached and detached from the main unit to form A-B/true X-Y mic patterns. You can also use your iOS and Android devices as a remote control using the optional AK-BT1 Bluetooth adapter (sold separately) and the Portacapture Control app, which are available free of charge in the App Store and Google Play.

The unit's external mechanism provides flexible functionality. Portacapture X8 can be easily mounted on top of cameras and tripods to be combined with AV rigs. The rear cold shoe mount also makes it possible to attach mic holders and/or wireless receivers, making it the ultimate portable recorder.
